Have any of you actually seen this show called, The Moment of Truth. I saw the 5th Episode of this show, and frankly i am a little appalled. Since when did revealing every truth about yourself and about your relationship become entertainment. This housewife gets on national television and for money she confesses some really awful things. Is nothing sacred. The audience keeps pushing her to keep going, she confessed that she felt she was in love with somebody else on her wedding day, that her ex boyfriend was the one she wanted to marry. And lastly that she has had sex with other people than her husband during the time they were married. Seriously this is sicking. I have no problem with her coming clean to her family and her husband. But to put it on national tv in front of thousands maybe even millions. For purely our enjoyment and entertainment. I feel a little bit like a citizen of the Roman empire attending the Circus Games. Watching the Gladiators duke it out mutilating others. The humiliation of people for the enjoyment of others. People were enjoying the fact that her marriage was crumbling as she stood there on tv. FOX broadcasting. You appall me. If you didn’t air House M.D. and Prison Break, i would be boycotting you. Damn my addiction to TV serial dramas.

So this guy comes to PUC, comes to our small predominately white and asian campus. His name Bryonn Bain. 1st of all he was amazing. I’m not much for hip hop/rap music, but i found myself being magnetized to his flow and to his lyrics. It was just such a beautiful flow to it all. And his messages were important. he spoke out against racism, against unfairness. Everything about his message was refreshing. He is not the black guy who comes and tells all the white people we should appreciate the black man because we did all these bad things to them and without them we would be nowhere. I’m all for racial equality, but most of the time i see the pendulum swing too far the other way. NO he didn’t do that he came and preached a message of straight equality. You cant do anything about the past. What is important is now! He told the story of his wrongful imprisonment, but instead of being bitter about it he has moved to a place where he can dialogue about racial issues in america. He has a passion for the prison system in our nation because of his wrongful imprisonment. He now uses his experience to reach out to people incarcerated around our nation. Some of the things he told us was appalling but, it NEEDS to be said. America now imprisons more people than iraq, north korea, and Afghanistan combined. The number of blacks in our prison system that that majority of them are wrongfully profiled is more than were placed in prison during the “Apartide” in south africa. Thats is horribly wrong and makes me ashamed to call this nation my people. But here i am an american. What will i do to make a change? The most amazing part about his program. The stage reading of his new one man play. There is only one word to describe it. Amazing. It really moved me. The message of hope at the end was a really moving moment.
ps. on a side note. Bryonn Bain has inspired me to start writing again. I know my poetry is going to suck, but as he told me you have to just let it come out. It will get better over time. You have to let it spill out then you can craft it and mold it later.

This weekend was good. Although there was a speeding ticket (not for me) involved. This weekend was also long and not nearly restfull enough. But alas if you have fun it is worth it. On Sunday at aproximatly 2AM we departed for Redding CA. Crashed at my place for a litle bit then woke up had some homeade food, and headed to a video shoot. There is an amazing pop punk act from OR called Broadway Calls. This band is a very hardworking and devoted band to the music scene. They just got signed by Adeline Reccords. (The same label that Green Day is on). Anyway, they were doing a video shoot in Redding (their favorite california town). And i got to attend. This is my second music video shoot, my first being MxPx’s Secret Weapon. But i have to say i think this one was more fun. Of course my opinion is influenced by my friends being there. And the fact that durring their actual set they covered two amazing songs. For you For me, by Set it Straight. And Knowledge by Operation Ivy. It was a good show.
Its amazing how much of an influence music has on your life. I know the Redding music scene certianly has. Especially the members of Set it Straight and Broaway Calls.
