Spare the Air Day 6/19/08

June 19, 2008

I was on a trip into SF to pick up my dad and sister from SFO and i noticed a big electronic billboard saying that tomorrow, (today as i write this now) is Spare the Air Day in SF. In an effort to do their part ecowise, the city of San Francisco is making all public transport completely FREE. Not only does this in itself cut down on emissions and reduce the use of oil and create less smog, but it may help to introduce some people to the benefits of public transportation, and hopefully encourage them to use it in the future. this could be the start of many new habits for commuters everywhere.

I for one, am all for it. So tomorrow, if you happen to live in the city. Take some public transportation. MuniBus and light rail systems will be free all day. While utilities like BART, AirBART, CALtrail, ACE train, Amtrack Capitol Corridor trains and the local Ferries will be free until 12 o’clock noon. Whenever i go to the city i prefer to take the public transportation system, avoid the fares on the bridges as well as help the environment. Every little bit helps. Or so i like to tell myself. Besides driving in the city can be a hassle sometimes. And public transport just makes things so simple.

This weekend was good. Although there was a speeding ticket (not for me) involved. This weekend was also long and not nearly restfull enough. But alas if you have fun it is worth it. On Sunday at aproximatly 2AM we departed for Redding CA. Crashed at my place for a litle bit then woke up had some homeade food, and headed to a video shoot. There is an amazing pop punk act from OR called Broadway Calls. This band is a very hardworking and devoted band to the music scene. They just got signed by Adeline Reccords. (The same label that Green Day is on). Anyway, they were doing a video shoot in Redding (their favorite california town). And i got to attend. This is my second music video shoot, my first being MxPx’s Secret Weapon. But i have to say i think this one was more fun. Of course my opinion is influenced by my friends being there. And the fact that durring their actual set they covered two amazing songs. For you For me, by Set it Straight. And Knowledge by Operation Ivy. It was a good show.

Its amazing how much of an influence music has on your life. I know the Redding music scene certianly has. Especially the members of Set it Straight and Broaway Calls.
