I was on a trip into SF to pick up my dad and sister from SFO and i noticed a big electronic billboard saying that tomorrow, (today as i write this now) is Spare the Air Day in SF. In an effort to do their part ecowise, the city of San Francisco is making all public transport completely FREE. Not only does this in itself cut down on emissions and reduce the use of oil and create less smog, but it may help to introduce some people to the benefits of public transportation, and hopefully encourage them to use it in the future. this could be the start of many new habits for commuters everywhere.
I for one, am all for it. So tomorrow, if you happen to live in the city. Take some public transportation. MuniBus and light rail systems will be free all day. While utilities like BART, AirBART, CALtrail, ACE train, Amtrack Capitol Corridor trains and the local Ferries will be free until 12 o’clock noon. Whenever i go to the city i prefer to take the public transportation system, avoid the fares on the bridges as well as help the environment. Every little bit helps. Or so i like to tell myself. Besides driving in the city can be a hassle sometimes. And public transport just makes things so simple.

Saturday i did the unthinkable. I went to a baseball game on the “holy day.” I took a car ride down to SF to see my favorite baseball team the SF giants. They won 8-2. Tim Lincecum, my favorite pitcher was incredible. It was fun to watch him work on the field. Its funny how people make such a big deal about not doing anything that isn’t praying or reading the Bible on the sabbath, but these people are some of the words most judgmental people i have ever seen within the doors of the church. I have gone through a crisis as of late with my church as it is the place that i identify with. It has accepted me for the most part. However i cannot feel guilted that because i go to a baseball game on the Sabbath i will be shunned. or that i should be by the church. Maybe its good to break the rules once in a while though. I dont really understand how in a school setting such as this, they expect us to not do anything on saturdays. Saturdays have become my day to catch up on sleep, just plain relax, catch up on homework, or even take a little bit of leasuire time for myself.
Maybe its sad, but thats how i’ve figured out how to get by in college.
